Best Bourbon

What’s the best bourbon to serve your guests, to gift your friends, to drink at the end of a long day? Below we offer a list of 10 bourbons that consistently make the “best of” and “top” lists, and which we have been known to enjoy ourselves from time to time. These include a variety of price points and some are more difficult to get your hands on than others, but we tried not to get too pricey or too obscure:

Blanton’s Original Single Barrel – Great packaging, great bourbon. At a cost of $60 or so a bottle, great gift.

Booker’s – Jim Beam’s grandson Booker Noe introduced his namesake bourbon in the late ’80s during his long run as Master Distiller. It’s an uncut, straight-from-the-barrel bourbon, so it’s strong.

Eagle Rare 10 Year – Premium bourbon at a very reasonable price point. Some bourbon experts believe recent bottling changes have taken the quality down a small notch, though every one would tell you that this is a fine bourbon to form a foundation for your at-home bar.

Four Roses Single Barrel – We’re going to cheat and use their own description on this one: “It’s complex, full-bodied and surprisingly smooth with a delicate, long finish that’s unbelievably mellow. Drink straight up or on the rocks.”

Four Roses Small Batch – “Four original and limited Bourbon recipes have been expertly selected by our Master Distiller at the peak of maturation to create this very mellow and perfectly balanced Bourbon.”
